Lakeland College distributed $964,839 in awards to 1,050 student recipients during this year's awards night celebrations. The Vermilion campus ceremony was March 20 and the Lloydminster ceremony was March 13.
Several local area residents received awards.
Maidstone students recognized were Megan Blanchette who won both the Apple Drugs Award and a Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity Scholarship and Kelly Rioch who won the Trades Staff Award. Blanchette is studying office administration and Rioch is in his four year of training as a heavy equipment technician.
From Mervin, Whitney McNinch won two awards, the Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship and the Garfield Weston Award. McNinch is studying in the conservation restoration ecology program, part of environmental sciences.
Livelong student Shelby Nichol also won two awards, the Gurdev Bhamra Award and a Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity Scholarship. Nichol is studying interior design technology.
