Two special people were honoured recently by being inducted in the Lions Hall of Fame — Colin and Adele Turuk.

Adele and Colin have been Lions members for more than 40 years — that's 40 years of giving back to their communities with hard work and great attitudes.

In addition to being a charter member of the Historic Battleford Lioness Club and the Battleford 2000 Lions Club, Adele has served as president of her club for four terms, secretary for six terms and treasurer for five terms.

Adele has been awarded the President's Excellence Award and a Life Membership in Lions Foundation of Canada.

Adele serves in many other volunteer capacities in our community and never ceases to be a source of inspiration to those around her with her kind and gentle ways, her untiring hard work and her willingness to lend a hand.

Colin is a charter member of the Historic Battleford Lions Club and has also spent many years as club president, secretary and treasurer. In addition to being in the hall of fame, Colin has received the Melvin Jones Fellowship, Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship and a Life Membership in Lions Foundation of Canada.

These awards serve to recognize just how often Colin would “take and wind up” and give back to his community by volunteering with Lions and several other community groups.

Colin and Adele are role models, reminding everyone of the importance of getting involved with the people around us and working together to make our community and our world a better place.
