Tasha Hirschfeld and Jaida Freyman operated a concession booth at the Meewasin beach in Loon Lake during the Saskatchewan Summer Games, donating proceeds to the MS Society of Saskatchewan.

Two Loon Lake students, members of the Northwest School Division Leadership Academy, have raised $2,002 for the MS Society.

The goal of the academy is to teach students how to make a difference in the world and teach them how and why to give service to others.

Tasha Hirschfeld, Grade 12, and Jaida Freyman, Grade 11, wanted to raise money for the MS Society as Natasha's aunt has MS that is moving fast. Tasha said the more money the society has the better chance that they would have to find a cure for MS to help her aunt and others like her. Jaida said her great-aunt died with MS.

Jaida and Natasha have also participated in the MS walk in the Battlefords for two years to support the efforts of the MS Scoitied.

The students volunteered to organize and run the concession at the Canoe and Kayak venue at Meewasin beach in Loon Lake. This venue was one of many in the Saskatchewan Summer Games in the Meadow Lake area.

The organization of the food, the equipment, the advertising and more proved to be a big challenge. The venue was being used for three days and the girls had no knowledge of how many people would be there. The girls had willing volunteers to help them out on the days of their event.

Natasha and Jaida will donate $2,002 to the MS Society of Saskatchewan, Battlefords branch.
