The detachment commander for Maidstone RCMP was removed from his command Dec. 5 after information was received by senior management that there may have been inappropriate workplace behaviour.
The member is a male sergeant with more than 20 years of service.
An internal code of conduct investigation has been initiated.
According to a press release, the RCMP takes these types of situations seriously, which is why the member was removed from the workplace and an internal code of conduct investigation ordered.
As with all investigations, the RCMP will not be releasing the name of the member who is the subject of the internal code of conduct investigation. If it is determined this employee contravened the code of conduct and informal disciplinary action is sufficient, this action is considered personal information as defined in Section 3 of the Privacy Act.
If it is determined that formal discipline is warranted, then a formal disciplinary hearing is initiated. The results of these hearings are open to the public and are available upon request (not through a formal access to information and privacy request). If there are statutory charges, the name of the member will be released through a media release.
