The Maidstone RCMP is reporting a week with 78 occurrences between Sunday, April 10 and Saturday, April 16. Some of the most common calls received were related to speeding, theft and fires.

Calls of Interest
April 10, Maidstone RCMP were on patrol and located a U-Haul van parked near Paynton. A man from Leduc, Alta., was arrested without incident. The male was found to be in possession of stolen property from Strathcona County and Edmonton and the U-Haul van was seized. The man has been released for court.
April 11, the Enhanced Policing Unit attended to two grass fires in the RM of Wilton. The fires appeared to have been started accidentally and were not criminal in nature. Given the warming weather and the dry dead grass, police remind everyone to be cognizant of fire bans placed by the rural municipalities of Britannia, Eldon, Paynton and Wilton. If you are unsure if you need a permit (some municipalities require permits year round), or require further information, please call your local rural municipality. Please also ensure any fires started are monitored and all safety precautions are taken.
April 11, a break and enter was reported near Waseca. An RV had been broken into and several items were taken including a generator, chainsaw, weed whacker and three firearms. The Forensic Identification Section from North Battleford assisted with the scene. April 11, a collision occurred in the town of Maidstone. Both vehicles remained drivable and no injuries were reported. A man subsequently was charged for one count of driving while suspended.
April 13, Maidstone RCMP assisted the Lloydminster RCMP during an investigation into a pedestrian hit and run that occurred in Lloydminster. It was reported to Maidstone RCMP that the vehicle had left eastward and was believed to be in Lashburn. The Maidstone RCMP located that vehicle and arrested the male driver without incident. The vehicle was seized for examination by the Lloydminster Forensic Identification Section.
April 14, Maidstone RCMP were advised of a possible stolen vehicle in Lashburn. The vehicle had reportedly just been stolen from Lloydminster and the complainant had seen that it was stolen on Facebook. Police attended and located the abandoned vehicle in Lashburn with the keys inside. Nobody has been arrested in relation to this theft. Maidstone RCMP would like to remind the public of the importance of securing your property, not leaving the keys in your vehicles and to never leave your vehicle running without supervision.
April 16, CP police contacted RCMP to request assistance regarding two individuals on the train tracks east of Lloydminster that were near a locomotive. Maidstone RCMP and the Enhanced Policing Unit attended. The two individuals were located and found to be hiking on a nearby quad trail. Nothing criminal occurred. Warning issued regarding their proximity to the tracks and private property.
