LA RONGE – A 30-year-old man who is accused of trying to shoot and kill two RCMP officers is back in La Ronge Provincial Court Dec. 1 for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial.

Terrence Daigneault, who also goes by Terrance Kenny, was arrested in Saskatoon after a three-day manhunt by police. He was wanted on 11 charges, including two counts of attempted murder. He remains in custody.

The charges stem from an incident where shots were fired at police on June 19, 2022. RCMP had released his photo and issued an emergency alert and lockdown in La Ronge, Air Ronge, and Lac La Ronge after RCMP were shot at and numerous people arrested.

Police say that at about 11:30 a.m. that day, La Ronge RCMP officers saw a black car speed past them while they were doing patrols on Far Reserve Road. They tried to pull the car over but the driver refused to stop. Police followed the vehicle as it turned into a driveway of a home in the 100 block of Far Reserve Road and they saw a man flee from the vehicle on foot. One officer pursued the fleeing man and another officer was outside of their police truck when a second man got out of the car and started shooting at police. A bullet struck the windshield and radiator. Both officers moved to a safe location and called for backup. They weren't injured.
