A man is dead following a house fire and explosion south of Maidstone Wednesday.
Maidstone RCMP were called the to location along Range Road 3233 shortly after 6 p.m.
Police say a second person was outside the residence at the time of the explosion was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The structure sustained significant damage.
The Coroners Office, the Office of the Fire Commissioner along with the RCMP Fire Scene examiner are currently on scene and the investigation continues.
The Maidstone RCMP say they do not suspect the cause of the explosion to be criminal in nature and advise there is no danger to the public and no concerns with local gas infrastructure.
