Unity RCMP responded to areport of an armed suicidal man in the early morning hours of Nov. 8.
Unity members located the man in a rural area north of the town of Wilkie. The 25-year-old male was found to be intoxicated and armed with a loaded rifle.
Unity RCMP members negotiated with the man for approximately an hour before he relinquished his firearm and was taken into custody without incident.
The man from Swift Current appeared in Provincial Court in North Battleford Nov. 9 facing charges of careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a firearm, as well as impaired care and control of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content exceeding .08.
Man male was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court in Unity Nov. 20.
