Man sentenced in La Ronge court to 1.5 years in jail

Quinton Ross was charged with a December 2021 serious assault at a home in Hall Lake

LA RONGE -  A 20-year-old Lac La Ronge Indian Band man was sentenced Thursday in La Ronge Provincial Court to 532 days in jail for a serious assault in Hall Lake.

Quinton Dakota Ross was charged for an incident Dec. 28, 2021. According to La Ronge RCMP, they were called to a report of a serious assault at a home in Hall Lake.

The police investigation determined that a man went to the home and threatened the residents and assaulted one person, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Ross was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Ross was given a lifetime ban on owning firearms and ordered to provide his DNA to the National DNA Data Bank.
