Man succumbs to cold

Battlefords Rural RCMP say foul play is not suspected in the death of a 48-year-old man on Red Pheasant First Nation Wednesday. Police say a call was received at about 9:30 a.m. of an unresponsive man in a ditch on the reserve.

Battlefords Rural RCMP say foul play is not suspected in the death of a 48-year-old man on Red Pheasant First Nation Wednesday.


Police say a call was received at about 9:30 a.m. of an unresponsive man in a ditch on the reserve.


WPD Ambulance also responded and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.


Investigation revealed the man, a resident of the reserve, left his home in the early morning hours. Police say the reason he left has not been determined. According to the RCMP he succumbed to the cold.


An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. The name of the man is not being released out of respect for the family.
