Update: Man wanted in connection to North Battleford homicide now in custody

Javon Moosomin, considered armed and dangerous, was arrested Dec. 16 by Edmonton police

NORTH BATTLEFORD - Update Dec. 2: As a result of investigation, on Dec. 17, Javon Moosomin was located and arrested in Edmonton, Alta., by Edmonton Police Service. He will be transported back to Saskatchewan to appear in court on charges listed below.

Update Nov. 25: The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to ask the public to report any information on the whereabouts of Javon Moosomin.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Oct. 21. He is charged with murder.

Officers have been actively trying to locate Javon Moosomin and arrest him. He may be in the Edmonton, Lloydminster or North Battleford areas, but this has not been confirmed.

He is described as 5’11” and 180 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo containing letters and the numbers ‘916’ on one cheek. Please note investigators believe Javon Moosomin may now have a tattoo of a cross on his other cheek, which is not shown in the attached pictures.

Javon Moosomin should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see Javon Moosomin, do not approach him. Call 911 immediately. Background Oct. 21: Battlefords RCMP Detachment are on the lookout for an individual on a charge of murder. 

Police say Javon Moosomin, 21, is charged with:

  • One count, second degree murder, Section 235, Criminal Code.
  • Five counts, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code.
  • One count, possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest; officers are actively trying to locate Moosomin.

According to police, on Oct. 21, 2021 at approximately 1:45 a.m., North Battleford RCMP were dispatched to a report of a shooting on the 1200 block of 108th Street in North Battleford.

Police say a male was declared dead at the scene. The deceased is identified as Boyd Firingstoney, 33, of Mosquito First Nation.

His family has been notified, say police. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit South is investigating. 

RCMP are warning the public that Javon Moosomin should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as 5’11” and 180 lbs.and has brown hair and brown eyes.
