The Battlefords have been added to a list of places where masks will be mandated.

North Battleford and Battleford are among the communities that will be required to wear non-medical masks in all indoor public spaces, effective Monday, Nov. 16.

This information comes with Friday’s announcement of expanded masking, a curfew on alcohol sales, and other measures being put in place to blunt the latest rise in cases of COVID-19.

A list of 59 communities where masking will be mandated is in addition to Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

The curfew on alcohol in licensed establishments will be in effect as of Monday, Nov. 16 for 28 days, then subject to review by Saskatchewan’s chief medical health officer.

Health Minister Paul Merriman said Friday, “Now is the time for all residents, businesses and organizations to get back to basics. Re-commit to proven public health measures and return to the standards shown to work in the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.”

A significant number of cases in the province are as a result of people going to school, work and participating in activities when they have been symptomatic was the message at Friday morning’s press conference by Merriman and Saskatchewan Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab.

This story has been corrected to account for what appears to be a typo in the provincial government's press release.
