The hair on the faces of civic officials in North Battleford just continues to grow.
So has the amount of money raised in a bid to raise awareness and find a cure for prostate cancer, as Mayor Ian Hamilton and other city administration officials and staff continue their Movember moustache-growing efforts.
At the municipal services meeting Monday, there were a notable number of moustaches on city officials including Hamilton, Deputy Fire Chief Brian Wilson, Director Of Economic Development Denis Lavertu and others.
"Some might say it's a little creepy around here ... others are re-living the 70s ... but everyone agrees it's for a good cause!" was the comment of City Communications And Marketing Co-ordinator Mike Halstead in his news release on the Movember efforts on Tuesday.
The 10-member City team has been seeking pledges at their Movember and Sons web page, which can be found at http://ca.movember.com/team/651073.
As of Wednesday afternoon the team had raised $920 with over a week to go, ranking them at No. 4,515 out of over 22,000 teams participating in the challenge across Canada.
Mayor Hamilton led the team in pledges with $384 as of Wednesday, followed closely by Wilson with $274.
Finance Director Matthew Hartney, the team's captain, is third with $59. Trinity Rae and Jerry Wintonyk are tied for fourth at $34, with varying amounts pledged to the other city team participants. A pledge of $100 has also been made just to the team itself.
Those looking to make pledges are encouraged to go to the website listed above and help contribute to find a cure and raise awareness of prostate cancer.
