MEADOW LAKE – A man charged with forcible confinement, obstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a release order was denied bail.

A show cause hearing for 38-year-old Corey Bouvier was held in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Monday.

Bouvier and two other men were arrested after RCMP received a report at about 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 that a woman was being held against her will by armed men at a home on the 500 block of 7th Avenue West in Meadow Lake. The occupants refused to let the police in and barricaded themselves inside. During the incident, police put five nearby schools into hold-and-secure.

Several RCMP units assisted Meadow Lake RCMP and they entered the home shortly after 4 p.m. and safely removed the woman. She wasn’t physically injured.

Corey Bouvier is now scheduled to appear by CCTV in Meadow Lake court on Jan. 24 to enter a plea and election.
