MELFORT — The cannabis store in Melfort will be opening at 103 Burrows Avenue West.
“That permit has been issued, we don’t have any information when they will be prepared to open,” said Brent Lutz, community development manager at the City of Melfort. “Initially they were hopeful to open at the date of legalization but I don’t think that will happen at this point.”
Cannabis stores in the province are required to open within one year of legalization.
“The location was approved shortly after the amendments that were made to the zoning regulations within the city,” Lutz said. “The proponent was waiting on choosing a location until they were made aware of what the regulations would be.”
Cannabis becomes legal on Oct. 17.
