The City of Melfort is still looking for uses for the Historic Post Office.
When they spoke at the Dec. 12 council meeting, the Melfort Legion was concerned that allowing the facility to be rented would hurt rentals at their hall. Coun. April Phillips, the chair of the community services committee, said renting the Historic Post Office wasn’t a priority for the city.
“We kind of stumbled across people wanting to rent it after the city used it for the Speakeasy [event on Oct. 15],” she said. “I don’t think we’re going to have a lot of people wanting to rent the facility, but we’ll deal with it as it comes.”
Any money earned from rent would go back to the facility.
