In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the City of Melfort has closed all municipal facilities to the public.

This change came into effect on March 16.

In a press release the city stated this was to protect their staff and the public by restricting non-essential contacts in an attempt to limit the possibility of community transmission during the pandemic.

Affected facilities that will close to the public include city hall, Northern Lights Palace Pool and Arena, Kerry Vickar Center, Melfort Wapiti Library, Melfort and District Museum, and the Historic Post Office.

City staff will remain at work maintaining essential services.

Staff will answer calls and emails at 306-752-5911 or [email protected] . Payments can be made by mail, through the drop box at city hall, or online banking.

The Melfort Landfill has been closed to the public, but regularly scheduled street sidewaste collection will continue.

Handi Van has limited their services to essential transportation only.

Regular updates will be posted to www.melfort.ca.

The City of Melfort is encouraging the public to follow health directives and practice social distancing.
