Council has endorsed the Battlefords Children's Charter, which sets out a vision for children to have the freedom to grow as individuals. Colleen Sabraw and Karen Weran from the Battlefords Early Childhood Community Planning Network asked for the endorsement and it was carried unanimously.

The state of the concrete in the public square at the CUPlex prompted an inquiry by Councillor Ryan Bater. Bater noticed cracking and what seemed like "20 years of wear" to the new concrete in that location.

Director of Parks and Recreation Keith Anderson, responded this "premature wear" has been noticed and that he contacted the architect, who has arranged for an engineering company to look at it and establish whether it is the concrete that is the issue or whether "it was poured under adverse conditions." Anderson leans to the latter explanation, he told council, and the department is working to have it replaced.

City council passed a resolution Monday that calls for a 10 per cent discount on Don Ross Centre meeting room rentals to be offered to non-sport and not-for-profit groups that meet one or more times per week for a minimum of six months per year. This comes following a request from Battlefords Toastmasters Club for such a discount.

Finally, council agreed to waive a City requirement for buyers to construct a building on commercial and industrial land, in order to approve the sale of two lots at 2862 and 2832 99th Street to Scott Campbell Dodge, who were seeking more car lot space within close proximity,

That resolution passed. As part of that approval, the City has first right of refusal to buy back the land for five years at the original price paid by Scott Campbell Dodge.
