The case against a Prince Albert man accused of killing his son and parents, and attempting to kill his daughter, continues to be adjourned.

Nathaniel Carrier, 28, was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court by CCTV on Sept. 1 but the matter was adjourned to Oct. 6 to be spoken to.

Carrier was arrested on March 31 and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of his mother Sandra Henry, 56, father Denis Henry, 56, and son, Bentlee, 7. He is also charged with the attempted murder of his daughter, Kendrah, 5.

First-degree murder charges are laid when it is believed the murders were planned and deliberate.

In July Carrier’s lawyer asked the court for time to receive and go over disclosure. Disclosure consists of the Crown’s case against the accused and usually includes search warrants, the charging document, details of the offence, audio/video and transcribed witness statements, statements from the accused, expert reports, exhibits, private communication intercept authorizations, evidence, and criminal records of witnesses and the accused.

Prince Albert Police found the family murdered on March 29 in their home at 315 McArthur Drive after a family member asked police to do a welfare check. Carrier lived at the home with his parents and two children. Carrier’s small daughter was found still alive and taken to a Saskatoon hospital before being flown to an Edmonton hospital. She has since been released from hospital. Her family has requested that the children’s last names not be used.

At the horrific scene police noticed that both Nathaniel Carrier and Denis Carrier’s vehicle were missing. Police later learned that the vehicle was in La Ronge, Sask. Carrier was arrested in Prince Albert on March 31. Police believe the murders occurred on March 28.

Neighbours said they didn’t see Nathaniel Carrier often but they described his parents as “really, really nice” and “always cheerful.”

Carrier has been held in custody since his arrest. In serious cases such as murder the accused is automatically remanded into custody.
