A preliminary hearing into the Treaty Land Entitlement fraud case on Mosquito First Nation began Monday in provincial court.
Charged are former Chief Clarence Stone, Clifford Spyglass and Gerald Bird. They are accused of taking money set aside for land purchases and using it for various other activities.
The three are charged with stealing from and defrauding Mosquito First Nation of over $5,000 during 2002. As well Spyglass and Bird face breach of trust charges. The three have all entered not guilty pleas to the charges.
Two weeks have been set aside for the preliminary hearing, which is to determine whether the Crown has enough evidence to go to trial.
