It was a wet weekend for the Muenster Midget AA Red Sox.
The Red Sox played two away games on July 14.
In the first game, against Moose Jaw, Muenster won the game 7-2. Tanner Syroteuk pitched 5 2/3 of the game for the win, with Nick Anderson pitching the rest.
Ryley Zimmerman and Cole Ramler each got two doubles leading the Red Sox offensively.
The second game of the day was played against the Regina White Sox.
It was a tough battle for the Red Sox, who were down 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning. They rallied together and scored three runs to take the lead.
Taylor Rueve held off the White Sox in the seventh inning to bring his team to a 4-3 victory.
The Red Sox played against Kipling on July 15 at the Muenster ball diamonds.
It was a tough game for both teams because of the rain and neither team came out a winner.
When the game was tied 6-6 at the end, "it was still raining, so we didn't play an extra inning," said coach Jim Korte.
Although it rained the entire game, Korte said it wasn't raining enough to stop them, but made it difficult to play.
"We played okay under the conditions," said Korte. "It was hard to play. The guys' hands were wet and it is tough to throw a ball when your hand is wet."
Although it was a miserable day to play ball, they managed to do alright, said Korte.
"We were ahead by two at the beginning and then they tied it up," said Korte.
He said towards the end of the game, it looked like they might win.
"We had a man on second and third with our last bat and we didn't get them in," said Korte.
Not only did the rain make it difficult for the players, it also chased the fans away.
"There was nobody there because everyone went home," said Korte. "They were all cold and wet."
The Red Sox will be playing their last game before the Prairie Midget Baseball League finals on July 18 in Muenster against Lumsden.
"We have one make-up game that we had cancelled earlier," said Korte.
Then, on the weekend, the Red Sox, who are fourth in the league, will be off to Melville for the League Playoffs, against the other top eight teams in the league.
