Murder suspect headed to trial in P.A. court on sexual assault, assault charges in separate incident

A three-day jury trial will be held in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench in January for Corey Clarke

PRINCE ALBERT – A man accused of killing Natasha Ross is headed to trial on sexual assault charges stemming from a separate incident.

A three-day jury trial will be held in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench in January 2022 for 33-year-old Corey Clarke on charges of sexual assault, assault, forcible confinement, and choking to overcome resistance.

On July 12, Prince Albert Police had issued a Canada-wide warrant for Clarke’s arrest on a second-degree murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Ross. Her body was found at about 6 a.m. May 24, 2021, in Prince Albert after police received a report that there was a deceased woman in a residence in the 2900 block of 4 Avenue West.

Baker Lake RCMP arrested Clarke in Nunavut days after the Canada-wide warrant was issued. Clarke was brought back to Prince Albert from Nunavut to face the second-degree murder charge. At the time, Clarke was also facing charges of sexual assault, assault, forcible confinement, and choking to overcome resistance in a separate incident against another woman.

Clarke appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday on the second-degree murder charge. He is back in provincial court Nov. 17 to speak to that matter.

The charges against Clarke haven’t been proven in court.
