NAICAM —The Town of Naicam has announced they are closing municipal facilities to lower the spread of Covid-19.
The facilities affected include the town office, town hall and Viking SportsPlex.
“Town Council and staff understand that things are very uncertain in our world right now and appreciate your patience in this rapidly changing situation,” the town said, in a press release. “If you have concerns over members of the community who may be quarantined, we ask the community at this time to make the best possible use of technology and check in on your friends and neighbours via telephone, email, social media and text messaging where possible.”
While the town office is closed to the public, municipal staff will continue to work.
The town has asked that the public “please do not approach staff in person” but contact the office instead by phone or email.
Public works will not be entering homes of residents at this time.
In an effort to help alleviate some strain on community members, Naicam council is also waiving interest that would have normally been generated on April 1 and May 1 on all past due accounts for taxes, utilities, and all accounts receivable.
Naicam council will continue assessing the situation and review opening facilities again at each council meeting until “such time as the situation has been fully resolved.”

Naicam Prairie North Co-op: Offering grocery delivery. Delivery fees waived until April 12. Their Naicam location can be reached at 306-874-2323,and Spalding location can be reached at 306-872-2122.
Naicam Pharmasave: Offering prescription delivery (drop off only). The pharmacy is asking the public to call for details, if quarantined, to set up delivery on account. Their number is 306-874-2022.
Closures and changes as of March 17:
Huang’s Chop Suey: Changing to take out only starting March 18. Closed Mondays.
Other Sakina’s Grill House: Changing to take out and delivery only until further notice. Closed Mondays.
Thrift Store: Closed for 2 weeks and will revisit at that time.
Naicam Library: Closed in the Wapiti Region until further notice.
Naicam Seniors Centre: Closed until further notice, will review after a few weeks.
Churchview Lodge: Public are asked not to attend the Lodge if they are ill or have been outside of Canada in the last 14 days.
