Starting as early as Thursday, Highway 4 stretching from near Highway 16 to 22nd Street will be open to four-lane traffic. Southbound traffic will use new lanes built this construction season, while northbound traffic will use existing lanes.

Meanwhile, two-way traffic will remain Thursday on Highway 4 stretching from 22nd Street to near the Battle River Bridge. Four-lane service on this segment is expected to begin as early as later this fall, after more construction work is completed.

Drivers are urged to closely watch for signs directing motorists and for traffic at the intersection of Highway 4 and 22nd Street as construction continues.

In 2012, medians, more paving and traffic signals at the Highway 4 intersections of 29th Street and 22nd Street are expected to be completed.

The ministry thanks Motorists for their patience and understanding as construction continues on the Highway 4 Connector Twinning Project. Expect future traffic delays, closures and potentially other impacts on their travel in the area. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
