News-Optimist to run Election page

Once again the Battlefords News-Optimist is inviting all council candidates to participate in an all-candidates profile page for the upcoming civic election.

Once again the Battlefords News-Optimist is inviting all council candidates to participate in an all-candidates profile page for the upcoming civic election.

Submissions are now being sought for those running for council in North Battleford and Battleford. We are asking for submissions for the election page, which will run in the Oct. 17 edition of the News-Optimist.

Candidates are invited to give their name, their occupation or credentials, any information about campaign websites, Facebook or Twitter pages, and most importantly, a 150-word submission which would answer the following question: " what is your motivation for seeking a seat on council?"

Candidates are encouraged to send submissions as soon as possible. The deadline to respond is Oct. 15 by 9 a.m. to meet the newspaper's deadlines.

The profiles at will also be published on www.newsoptimist.ca under the elections tab.

All submissions are subject to editing, as libellous or slanderous material will not be published and length will be limited to 150 workds.

Submissions from North Battleford council candidates should be sent to newsoptimist.john@sasktel.net (city council) to the attention of reporter John Cairns or amcphail@newsoptimist.ca (town council) to the attention of Alex McPhail. Alternatively, responses can be dropped off at the newspaper's offices at 891-104th St.

An email was sent out to candidates in North Battleford Oct. 1, outlining details about the election page. Any North Battleford candidates who have not yet received that email should call John at 445-7261.
