NORTH BATTLEFORD — North Battleford’s application for the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program has been approved by the province.

The PDAP funds will now flow to assist residents for the localized flooding throughout the city resulting from heavy rains on June 13. An estimated 100 millimetres of rain fell on the city during that rain event.

The city had made the funding application following a special meeting of council on Wednesday, and that funding approval came through just one day later.

In a news release, the city is urging residents to contact their private insurance for coverage for damage. PDAP will assist with uninsurable losses of essential goods to help people to get back to pre-disaster conditions, if eligible.

The city states residents will be responsible for completing the PDAP application and submitting their claim to the province. PDAP application instructions, guidelines, and form are available on the city’s website. Printed copies are also available from City Hall during regular business hours.

Registration of claims must be returned to PDAP by Dec. 13, 2022, with work to be completed by June 23, 2023.

Property owners are to complete and return the Private Property Application form to PDAP as soon as possible. Original applications are to be submitted, and original signatures are required for PDAP claim files.
