Northwest students earn U of A awards

University of Alberta Augustana Campus has recognized the academic excellence of 320 of its 1,000 students with scholarships and awards for the 2012-13 academic year.

University of Alberta Augustana Campus has recognized the academic excellence of 320 of its 1,000 students with scholarships and awards for the 2012-13 academic year.

Leanne Marynowski, of Paynton, a first year BSc/BEd (Secondary) student, was awarded a total of $4,500 for academic excellence and non-alberta residency, funded by The Verda and J D McNeill Scholarship, a University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship and an Augustana Non-Alberta Incentive Entrance Award.

Ian Skinner, of Turtleford, a first year Bachelor of Arts student, was awarded a total of $2,300 for academic excellence and choral, funded by an Augustana Faculty Academic Entrance Scholarship, a University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship and an Augustana Faculty Fine Arts Award in Choral.

Jonathan Skinner, of Turtleford, a fourth year Bachelor of Arts student, was awarded a total of $625 choral, funded by an Augustana Faculty Fine Arts Award in Choral.

Boyd Wakelin, of Battleford, a first year Bachelor of Management student, was awarded a total of $1,000 for hockey, funded by the Feth Family Award and an Augustana Faculty Award in Hockey.

Over $519,000 was provided by the University of Alberta and Augustana Campus in recognition of excellence in academics, fine arts, athletics and leadership. Support comes from generous donors, investment earnings on endowments, and from Faculty funded awards.
