Number of COVID-19 cases in SK up to eight

Saskatchewan has announced its eighth presumptive case of COVID-19. According to the province's news release, the resident was in their 50s and was tested in Regina following travel to Vancouver. The individual is self-isolating at home.

Saskatchewan has announced its eighth presumptive case of COVID-19.

According to the province's news release, the resident was in their 50s and was tested in Regina following travel to Vancouver. The individual is self-isolating at home. 

Public health officials are following up nwith individuals who had close contact with this case who may be at risk of developing COVID-19. If you are a close contact you will be notified.

In a media briefing Tuesday afternoon the province's chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab, said that of the eight cases, two were confirmed and the other six presumptive. There were now five cases from Regina, two from Saskatoon and one from Southend in the province's north.

Of the five in Regina, two had travelled from the USA, one of whom is hospitalized due to non-COVID-19 issues. Of the others, one attended a dental conference in Vancouver as well a secondary household case; the latest case also attended the dental conference in Vancouver.

Apart from the one case who is hospitalized, the rest of the cases "are doing well", Dr. Shahab said. "We expect them to make a full recovery within a week or two."

In terms of testing numbers, the province is up to 880 tests ordered. 191 were ordered from the north, 284 from the Saskatoon area and 405 from the south including Regina..
