Four Northwest students have earned 2013 Saskatchewan Agriculture Student Scholarships.
Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced ten winners from across the province this week. Those earning the $1,000 awards include Samantha McKee and Sydney Lake of Turtleford, Bethany Harland of Frenchman Butte and Jonathan Neigum of Unity.
"More than 50,000 people are employed in agriculture in Saskatchewan," Stewart said. "The opportunities in our vibrant sector are increasing and it is important that youth know about and consider careers in agriculture. The students selected for this scholarship show real potential and have bright futures in the industry."
Applicants were asked to produce a three-minute creative video or write a well-researched 750-word essay describing why agriculture, now more than ever, is a vibrant, diverse industry. They also provided letters of recommendation from a teacher, agriculture industry leader or community leader.
