Police say one person is behind eight armed robberies of financial institutions between Dec. 2 and Jan. 21 at locations stretching from British Columbia to Saskatchewan.
RCMP from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, as well as the Lethbridge Regional Police Service, are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who is believed to have committed the crimes.
The spree began Dec. 1 at 2:42 p.m. in Princeton, B.C. Dec. 9 another robbery occurred in Vernon B.C. at 4:37 p.m. Also hit were institutions in High River, Alta. (Dec. 19), Merritt, B.C. (Dec. 23), Swift Current (Jan. 8), Lethbridge, Alta. (Jan. 13) and Claresholm, Alta. (Jan 16). The latest victim was a financial institution in Aldergrove, B.C. at 5:55 p.m. Jan. 21.
Police say the suspect is a Caucasian man between 25 and 35 years of age. He has a slim build and is 5’6” to 6’ tall. He is described as unshaven with a brown goatee. He has been seen wearing a black touque, dark sunglasses, dark clothing and gloves.
All robberies involved a weapon, according to police, which was either produced or mentioned. In all instances the suspect left the financial institutions with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. No employees or customers present in the financial institutions at the time of the incidents were physically injured.
Police from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan are working to identify the person responsible and bring them safely into custody. The public should not approach the man as he is considered armed and dangerous, police say.
