There has been a lengthy adjournment granted in the case against Randall Nicotine, as well as one new charge against him.
May 8 has been set at the next court date for Nicotine in provincial court, after his latest North Battleford court appearance by closed-circuit TV on Wednesday.
This was Nicotine’s latest appearance in connection to 10 charges stemming from a March 21 police chase south of Battleford on Highway 4. On Wednesday, one new count was added to that number, as Nicotine was charged with causing mischief by destroying property, in this case being a vehicle that was the property of the provincial sheriff. The latest count is dated March 27.
Nicotine’s charges from the March 21 incident include flight from police, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm in commission of an offence, forcible confinement, child endangerment, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault, assaulting a police officer with weapon, driving while prohibited and resisting arrest.
Nicotine is the same individual who was in the “spectacular takedown” video from a 100th Street intersection that went viral on social media in April 2016.
In North Battleford court Wednesday morning, Nicotine’s defence lawyer Andrew Lyster of Legal Aid requested and was granted an adjournment to May 8 by Judge Lorna Dyck.
The indication from Lyster was that more time was needed to deal with the lengthy number of charges against Nicotine.
Nicotine’s next appearance will again be by closed-circuit TV, and he has been remanded by consent. A no-contact order preventing Nicotine from contacting two individuals was also renewed at his latest court appearance.
