Estimates about what it will cost to operate the Credit Union CUPlex are expected to be ready, soon.

Parks Director Keith Anderson told council Feb. 15 he expects to have an operating budget for the CUPlex ready in about three weeks. The estimates are still in the process of being prepared for council at the moment, he said.

Anderson expects those to be ready and completed, right after their main capital and operations budgets for 2011 are completed.

Anderson was responding to a query from Counillor Grace Lang, who had inquired about when an operating budget for the CUPlex would be made available.

Lang was one of two councillors to vote against awarding the tender for the curling and field house at a Feb. 7 special meeting on the CUPlex, citing the lack of operations estimates as well as concerns about the $24 million debt load as her reasons for voting against moving ahead with the project.
