Bodnarus Auctioneering held another successful antique, coin and collectible sale March 31 in Leask.
It appears that the most popular way of selling antiques and collectibles is through public auction with a reputable bonded auctioneer. The Leask Lions Hall was full of over 350 people of whom 210 were registered buyers who came from across the prairies, from British Columbia to Manitoba, to attempt to buy that special item. Between the two auctioneers, Frederick Bodnarus of Saskatoon and Brennin Jack of Regina, they sold 1,454 items.
There was a wide assortment of ornaments, metal signs, toys, glassware, lanterns, license plates, coins, furniture, gas station and implement related memorabilia, books, calendars and tins. Some high sellers for the day included $350 for a metal Texaco tankard toy, $185 for a toy replica of a 1954 Coke truck, the Texaco Fire Chief gasoline pump complete with globe sold for $2,750, the horse buggy sold for $1,800, a Ford sign sold for $1,500 and a one thousand dollar bill sold for $1,375.
