Prince Albert Police are investigating the death of a three-year-old girl they say is a homicide.
On April 8 at 8 p.m. police were called to a home in the 800 block of 17 Street West to assist Parkland Ambulance with a call about someone in cardiac arrest.
A girl was found unresponsive and life-saving efforts were made by ambulance staff on the way to Victoria Hospital. She was later transferred to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
On April 9 the girl was declared deceased by medical staff at the Children’s Hospital. An autopsy done on April 14 determined her death was a homicide.
Police say they haven’t made any arrests and confirm that the victim and suspects were known to each other.
“Investigators do not believe this to be a random incident and do not believe there is a risk to public safety,” said Charlene Tebbutt, Public Relations and Media Coordinator, Prince Albert Police Service in a statement April 15.
Members from the Prince Albert Police Service Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Section and office of the Chief Coroner continue to investigate.
