PAKWAW LAKE — A Pakwaw Lake resident won $1 million in the June 8 Lotto Max draw.

Carlton Bear was shocked when he discovered he’d won a million dollars. He purchased his Lotto Max ticket at Downtown Esso, located at 2005 Albert Street in Regina. One of the selections on his $30 quick pick ticket matched one of the 52 sets of numbers drawn for $1 million prizes. His winning numbers were 06, 11, 16, 29, 37, 39 and 49.

Bear checked his ticket a couple of days after the draw. Along with his prize, he also won two free plays on the same ticket.

“I didn’t believe it the first time I checked,” he said. “I scanned it again, and I still couldn’t believe it.”

“The third time I scanned it, I took a picture of the screen so I could show my wife and daughter,” he continued. “I showed them and said, ‘I won $100,000!’ My daughter looked and said, ‘Dad, that’s a million dollars!”

“We all stood together in the middle of the living room,” he remembered. “We were all in tears, hugging each other. It’s all very overwhelming.”

Bear said he has a couple plans for his winnings, starting with a family trip.

“We have a getaway in mind to see the K-Days Exhibition and a music festival in Edmonton this summer,” he said.

“I’d also like to take my family to a Montreal Canadiens game,” he continued. “We’re big Canadiens fans, but we’ve never been to a game together. I want to take them to the home opener in Montreal.”
