Parade celebrating merry old England July 20

Between Will and Kate's marriage, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics, the Battleford Recreation Board decided that the choice of a theme for the Battleford was an easy one.

The Fred Light Museum fire truck is a standard in the annual Battleford parade.

Between Will and Kate's marriage, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics, the Battleford Recreation Board decided that the choice of a theme for the Battleford was an easy one.

The Town of Battleford's 28th annual parade, which will take place July 20 at 8 p.m., will have "a royal party" as its theme. Starting and finishing at the St. Vital school track, it will snake down 22nd and 25th streets. Registration of floats is expected to take place mostly in the week before the parade, and the parade will likely have around 60 different floats.

Following the parade, fireworks will be launched from a location near the Battleford grain elevator around 11 p.m.

For more information on the parade, or to register a float, see the information and registration form printed on the Battleford website at www.battleford.ca or contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 937-6216. Parade entry forms can be faxed to 937-3103 or emailed to parks@battleford.ca
