Here is a wrap-up of community grant applications approved at the North Battleford Parks and Recreation Committee meeting held Monday.

The monthly committee meeting, which has moved around various recreational venues over the past few months, took place this month at the NationsWEST Field House. Grants approved were:

$1,498 for Sask. Hospital for assistants to enable residents to participate in a swim program at Battlefords Co-op Aquatic Centre;

$3,876 to WPD Ambulance for their EMS Hockey Tournament, with proceeds going to KidSport;

$1,611.50 to TWO42 Youth Drop-in Centre for new equipment serving youth aged 12-20;

$1,400 to Battlefords Minor Football for new equipment for players Grades 5 to 8;

$480 to Battlefords Blend for assistance for their public performance at the Dekker Centre to bring awareness of their four-part harmony singing group;

$2,000 to Battlefords North Stars for assistance to replace old and worn out equipment for their club, with the approval conditional on meeting specific criteria;

Finally, $2,300 to Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts for assistance with their summer theatre camp, designed to give youth between 13 and 25 the opportunity to learn and use the performance and technical skills required to put on a theatre performance.
