LOVE — Love’s Party in the Park committee is holding its seventh annual event.

Party in the Park raises funds for improvements to the park as well as the village. In the past they used funds to donate to help out with individual cancer treatment expenses, ALS foundation, the Love and District Board of Trade and The Friends of the Torch River Forest. Last year the funds from the event went to building two new gender-neutral, wheelchair accessible outdoor toilets and 14 metal hearts for campsite posts.

This year some of the proceeds will be going to the park and individuals, families and organizations who need the money for medical-related costs.

Shelley Vallier, Love’s mayor, said some people come up all the way from Saskatoon to attend the event.

“I would like people to know our main focus is an affordable day for family and friends to get together and enjoy activities with the kids as well as activities for the kids,” Vallier said.

The party has live music, horse shows, face painting, a bike decorating contest, beach volleyball and kids’ games.

Bands include The Steadies, The Wolfe and Grid 88.

The party starts at noon on Aug. 11.

The town’s next goal is to make a chapel, so people can come to Love to get married.

“Right now the only place we can put them in is the community hall,” Vallier said. “A chapel could be a one-stop shop for people who want to renew their vows or their wedding anniversary or for weddings.”
