Pierceland RCMP: two men charged after robbery with firearm

RCMP are not naming the men charged to protect the privacy of the victims

MUDIE LAKE FIRST NATION - On Oct. 8, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Pierceland RCMP were dispatched to a report that bear mace had been discharged in a residence on Mudie Lake First Nation.

Investigation has determined that a male threatened an occupant of the residence with a firearm and stole a cell phone. He then discharged bear mace in the residence, then left with another male. A firearm was then discharged into the air outside of the residence. No one was injured, but some of the occupants of the residence suffered the effects of the bear mace. The males were known to the victims.

Pierceland RCMP, with the assistance of the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team, located and arrested both males without incident later on October 8. RCMP are not naming them to protect the privacy of the victims.

A 32-year-old male from Island Lake First Nation was charged with:

  • 1 count, robbery with firearm, Section 344, Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, assault with weapon (bear mace), Section 267(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, being unlawfully in a dwelling house, Section 349(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, identity fraud, Section 403, Criminal Code

He will next appear in court on Nov. 9.

A 20-year-old man from Mudie Lake has charged with:

  • 1 count, discharge firearm while being reckless, Section 244.2(1)(b), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code

He will next appear in court on Dec. 1.
