Mervin 4-H Beef Club members are now getting their steers and heifers ready for achievement day and the year is wrapping up.
We have had some good tours, one at the Turtleford Vet Clinic where we got to watch a heifer having an ultrasound. We also learned about reasons for and prevention of abortions in a cow herd. We also went to the Monteith's farm to learn about their Lowline cattle.
We will have our demonstration day May 24 where judge Lance Leachman is going to give us tips on judging heifers and steers. We will also weigh our steers and practise showmanship.
We would like to invite everyone to our achievement day on May 31 at 3 p.m. at the Turtleford Ag grounds. A special thanks and good luck to all those who bought tickets for our 50\50 jackpot draw.
