Planning continues for the City of North Battleford 2013 Centennial Celebration.

North Battleford councillors were given a brief update about the preparations for that event at their meeting Monday.

A slogan - The Past has been Told, Let the Future Unfold - has been picked and will appear on merchandise and the logo. Merchandise is now available at the Chamber of Commerce, the Allen Sapp Gallery and from committee members. They can also be ordered at www.cityofnb.100. As well, a float was entered in the 3rd Annual Downtown Christmas Parade Nov. 24.

The first big event of the celebrations is Dec. 31 - "Let's Get the Party Started." That will consist of a New Year's Eve free family day from 3 to 8 p.m. at Don Ross Centre. A New Year's Eve party will be held from 9 p.m.to 3 a.m. at the field house with three local bands booked - King Street Station Jazz Band and Blue Denim and Rosetta.

Tickets are $30 and will be available on Picatic, at Bill and Don's, Bee J's, City Hall, Blue Rentals and the Allen Sapp Gallery. The goal is to sell between 800 and 1,000 tickets.

Finally, the historical committee continues work on a time capsule that will be buried and sealed in December 2013. The current time capsule will be opened May 1.

The committee is also writing articles on North Battleford Notables, and a skyline history book by Irwin McIntosh has been reprinted and is available for $5 from committee members or at the archives office at Room 111 of the Don Ross Centre. Also, a pictorial history book is ready to go to print and should be available for Christmas.
