The Blaine Lake Playschool Co-operative held a barbecue hamburger and hot dog fundraiser May 17 on Main Street, Blaine Lake. The parents/caregivers had a variety of canned beverages and homemade baked items available. Despite the colder weather conditions from the previous day, the hearts were warm as many local residents, business employees and visitors supported the efforts of the playschool organization.

The Blaine Lake Playschool Co-operative was established by community parents as a non-profit, community-centered playschool program to be a true parent co-operative. The primary purpose of the program is to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment that respects the parent/child bond.

The children are able to learn through play, crafts, songs, story time and field trips. The school is open to potty-trained children aged three and four and provides them with an opportunity to develop social and educational skills with other children their age.

Playschool instructor Twila Pambrun enjoys developing and implementing programs for children. She is highly capable of planning activities that encourage personal and social growth.

Blaine Lake playschool currently has seven children enrolled in the program which follows the school calendar year including days on/off and holidays. Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon in the basement of the Blaine Lake Gospel Chapel. Parents can either register their children monthly or utilize the drop-in sessions. Children from surrounding communities are welcome. More information can be obtained by calling Teresa at 306-497
