The occupational health and safety fine was imposed in provincial court in North Battleford Feb. 14.

NORTH BATTLEFORD - A Saskatchewan plumbing company has been fined $20,000 plus a surcharge of $8,000 for an occupational health and safety violation this week.

In a provincial news release, it was confirmed that Gardiner Plumbing Ltd. entered a guilty plea in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 14 to contravening clause 12(a) of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 (being an employer at a place of employment, fail to provide and maintain plant, systems of work and working environments that ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of the employer's workers, resulting in the serious injury of a worker).

The charge stemmed from an incident Aug. 7, 2020, at a worksite near Île-à-la-Crosse, when a roof structure collapsed and a worker was seriously injured in a fall.

One other charge was stayed.
