Police help contact loved one

Between 6 a.m. Aug. 11 and 6 a.m. Aug. 12, Battlefords RCMP responded to about 50 calls for service, including the following:

Aug. 11

• 7:32 a.m. - Assisted someone locate a loved one that they have not heard from in some time and that was out of the ordinary. Loved one located and put into contact with relative.

• 9:13 a.m. - Report of a truck speeding back and forth in the back alley near Winder Crescent. When police arrived, the occupants had already fled and left the truck. The truck had been stolen earlier and was recovered.

•1:57 p.m. - Report of a hit and run in the parking lot of a business on Carlton Trail, minor damage done to vehicle. Still under investigation.

• 3:44 p.m. - Report of an intoxicated male banging on doors in the 800 block of 109th Street. Male was located and taken into custody.

• 5:18 p.m. - Report of five people loitering intoxicated outside a business on Railway Avenue.

• 7:43 p.m. - Report of an intoxicated male walking in the street near the 900 block of 108th street. Police attended and the male was gone.

• 8:16 p.m. - Police called to a residence to help with an intoxicated person that was causing problems. Police arrived on scene and were able to diffuse the problem. No arrests made and no further calls from that residence.

• 8:28 p.m. - A resident of the town of Battleford received a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be from the CRA. The resident recognized the fraud scam and no information was given. The RCMP remind people to be mindful of what information they provide to people on the phone and that there are lots of scams going on right now.

• 8:37 p.m. - Police responded to an assault complaint at a residence on the Red Pheasant First Nation. A couple had gotten into an argument and an assault occurred. One person was arrested and will be facing charges. Minor injuries were reported on scene.

• 9:15 p.m. - Report of a stolen purse from a business on Territorial Drive. Purse was left unattended and was taken.

• 10:50 p.m. - Police responded to a residence on Winder Crescent for an assault that had occurred. Police investigated the matter and one male was arrested for assault with a weapon and will face charges.

• 10:57 p.m. - Report of someone walking around ringing doorbells and running away in the Kildeer area.

Aug. 12

• 12:22 a.m. - Report of kids going through vehicles on Clark Drive, Douglas and Scott. When confronted by a resident, the kids took off running. Police made patrols in the area but the kids were not located. Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables in the vehicles at any time.

• 12:56 a.m. - Police responded to a commercial alarm at a business on Territorial Drive. The building was secure.

• 1:11 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle on 19th Avenue and the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was brought back to the detachment for the investigation and was charged and released for court.

• 4:09 a.m. - Police responded to a noise complaint on Panton Avenue.

• 4:42 a.m. - Police responded to the old bridge towards Battleford for three intoxicated people causing problems for someone working in the area. All were taken into custody.
