Police interact with an ocean of intoxicated people

RCMP made 40 arrests during a period extending from 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 and 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2. Police answered more than 130 calls for service over the three-day period, which included New Year's Eve.

RCMP made 40 arrests during a period extending from 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 and 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.


Police answered more than 130 calls for service over the three-day period, which included New Year's Eve. Among those were seven alarms and seven false/nuisance 911 calls.


Tuesday


7:32 a.m. - Vehicle parked on 2100 block of 101st Crescent gone through some time overnight. Money taken.


9:40 a.m. - Single vehicle collision on Highway 16 bridges. Vehicle lost control on ice and struck guardrail. Traffic was obstructed for a period of time. No injuries, and vehicle was towed from scene.


9:45 a.m. - Vehicle parked on 1800 block of 102nd Street gone through.


10:24 a.m. - Vehicle parked on 700 block of 109th Street gone through sometime overnight.


2:18 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision on 101st Street reported. Vehicle lost control and struck a parked vehicle. Minimal damage.


3:37 p.m. - Complainant listed vehicle for sale on line and was threatened by unknown caller when complainant refused to lower price.


3:59 p.m. - Report of minor two-vehicle collision on 100th Street. No injuries and both vehicles sustained minor damage.


4:55 p.m. - Single vehicle collision on 110th Street. Vehicle lost control on ice and slid into a concrete barrier. No injuries.


4:59 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 bridges. No injuries, one vehicle sustained some serious damage and had to be towed from scene. Road conditions at the time of collision were icy.


6:03 p.m. - Disturbance at a residence on 100th Street. Report that adult son was causing problems in the home. Matter mediated.


9:37 p.m. - Report of a disturbance/fighting at a residence on Panton Avenue. 19-year-old man arrested for mischief.


10:38 p.m. - Report of an intoxicated man at a business who appears to have been assaulted. Man located by members, but refused to co-operate with any investigation. Arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.


11:59 p.m. - 23-year-old man arrested from causing a disturbance after report of an intoxicated man yelling and swearing at people on 101st Street.


New Year's Eve


12:21 a.m. - Single vehicle collision on Territorial Drive west. Driver lost control and struck a lamp post. No injuries reported.


2:11 a.m. - Disturbance/arguing at a residence on 109th Street. Matter mediated.


10:20 a.m. - Two-vehicle collision on Battleford Road. Icy road conditions at time of collision. No injuries and one vehicle had to be towed from scene.


2:21 p.m. - Hit and run to a vehicle parked on 1600 block of 101st Street, occurring sometime in previous few days.


3:12 p.m. - 51-year-old man arrested for public intoxication after complaint of man sleeping on floor of a business.


5:10 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision on 109th Street. No injuries and both vehicles sustained minor damage. One driver has been charged with failing to yield the right of way under the Traffic Safety Act.


6:00 p.m. - Single vehicle collision on Highway 16. No injuries reported, vehicle towed from scene.


7:37 p.m. - 47-year-old man arrested and facing charges of impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample after a vehicle stop on 8th Avenue. First court appearance will be Feb. 24.


8:22 p.m. - 18-year-old man arrested and facing charges of impaired driving and driving over .08 after a report of a single vehicle collision on Highway 16 bypass.


10:28 p.m. - 29-year-old man arrested for public intoxication. Attended to detachment while extremely intoxicated to advise he had been kicked out of a bar and was demanding members go get his alcohol for him. His demands were not met. Held in custody until sober.


10:41 p.m. - 23-year-old man arrested for mischief, causing a disturbance at a residence on 101st Street.


11:00 p.m. - 33-year-old man arrested for public intoxication after being found by patrolling members staggering down the middle of 101st Street.


New Year's Day


12:53 a.m. - Complaint of man witnessed going through a vehicle parked on 800 block of 112th Street and chased away. Patrols for subject negative.


12:53 a.m. - 25-year-old woman arrested on Winder Crescent after complaint of disturbance. Subject facing one count of obstruction, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and two counts of failing to comply with probation. Making first appearance Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m.


1:12 a.m. - Unwanted/intoxicated person at residence on Kramer Place. Upon arrival, all parties had left residence and all now quiet.


1:23 a.m. - Report of person believed to be smoking marihuana on Railway Avenue East. 32-year-old man on scene arrested for public intoxication. No illegal drugs located.


1:34 a.m. - 21-year-old man arrested for causing a disturbance, reported to have started a fight on 100th Street. Held in custody until sober.


1:43 a.m. - 18-year-old man located on 114th Street intoxicated. Provided false identity. Charged with obstruction and three counts of failing to comply with undertaking. Remanded in custody until first appearance Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m.


2:03 a.m. - Report of a woman threatening to harm herself, armed with a knife having left a residence on 108th Street. Police dog unit called out to assist in ground search. Subject located a short time later and taken into custody without incident and unharmed.


2:06 a.m. - 29-year-old man arrested for public intoxication, causing a disturbance on Railway Avenue East.


2:36 a.m. - Report of an assault at a residence on 105th Street. One man sustained minor injuries. Matter still under investigation.


2:50 a.m. - Two males noted to be on warrant status located on 108th Street. Both arrested after a brief chase. 19-year-old man facing two new charges of failing to comply with probation. 17-year-old man is also facing two counts of failing to comply with probation. Both remanded to appear in court Jan. 2.


2:54 a.m. - Report of a fight on Railway Avenue East. Two suspects located and warned.


2:59 a.m. - Complainant calling police to advise they are having a party and there are numerous intoxicated people who need a ride home. Complainant advised that if members attend, any persons getting a ride will be getting a ride to cells. Request for service withdrawn.


3:15 a.m. - 45-year-old man arrested from public intoxication, located sleeping in a hotel lobby.


3:22 a.m. - Report of a man running down the street on Trudeau Street with no jacket or shirt on. 23-year-old man located a short distance away and arrested for public intoxication.


3:28 a.m. - 32-year-old man, 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman all arrested for public intoxication, found very drunk in a vehicle on 100th Street.


3:35 a.m. - 21-year-old man arrested for Mischief after report of intoxicated person causing a disturbance at a residence on St Laurent Drive.


3:53 a.m. - Loud party complaint on 102nd Street. Suspect warned about noise.


3:56 a.m. - Report of an assault on Douglas Avenue. Complainant advising witness noted a woman assaulted by a man who has since left scene. Matter remains under investigation.


4:06 a.m. - Unwanted intoxicated man on 107th Street. Subject left when police called. Not located.


4:08 a.m. - Several incoming noise complaints from an apartment building on 108th Street.


4:22 a.m. - Report of a man yelling on 106th Street. A 33-year-old man arrested for public intoxication.


4:42 a.m. - 911 call to a residence on 109th Street reporting a disturbance. Upon arrival, lights in the residence were turned off and no one would answer the door. Members forced entry into the home and noted several persons inside, refusing to explain why police were called. Two men decided to display their extensive knowledge of law and won a night in the drunk tank.


5:01 a.m. - Noise/fighting complaint on 105th Street. Matter mediated by members.


5:10 a.m. - 33-year-old woman arrested for public intoxication on 101st Street.


5:11 a.m. - 25-year-old woman arrested for assault at a residence on 106th Street. No charges pursued as per wishes of the victim.


5:16 a.m. - Report of a disturbance on 100th Street. To men, ages 35 and 23, arrested on scene for public intoxication.


5:48 a.m. - 911 call that a man had entered a residence on St Laurent Drive and stolen the complainant's shoes. Complainant later advised he had made a mistake and it was just his cousin borrowing his shoes.


6:27 a.m. - Domestic dispute reported on Winder Crescent. Parties spoken to having a vocal argument. Warned to keep noise down.


6:32 a.m. - 37-year-old man arrested for public intoxication, found wandering in traffic on Battlefords Road.


7:04 a.m. - Report of stolen vehicle, later recovered by members. Suspect identified as known to the registered owner.


7:07 a.m. - 911 call of a woman "freaking out" at a residence on 110th Street. 18-year-old woman was arrested at scene. Facing charges of possession of marijuana.


7:31 a.m. - Loud party complaint on 105th street. Warning given.


8:17 a.m. - Vehicle parked on 15th Avenue broken into sometime overnight.


8:45 a.m. - 911 call of a disturbance/argument at a residence on 99th Street. 28-year-old man arrested on scene for warrants for another jurisdiction, also charged with one new count of failing to comply with an undertaking. Remanded in custody until Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m.


11:05 a.m. - Report of a hit and run sometime overnight, to two vehicles parked on Diefenbaker Drive.


11:56 a.m. - 31-year-old man arrested for Mischief, causing a problem at a residence on 103rd Street.


1:20 p.m. - Theft of a truck from 102nd Street. Suspects got half a block before getting the vehicle stuck and running away. No damage to vehicle.


4:17 p.m. - 911 call to have unwanted person removed from residence on Diefenbaker Drive. Subject left when police called.


6:44 p.m. - Report of an assault on Ross Crescent. No injuries, parties all known to each other. Matter still under investigation.


7:01 p.m. - Unwanted person knocking on a door on Meadow Lark Lane. Subject left on his own.


7:45 p.m. - 911 call to a residence on 108th Street. Caller requesting police attend because of problems at the house. Upon arrival, no one on scene wished to speak to the police anymore.


8:43 p.m. - 28-year-old man arrested for mischief, after report of man yelling and screaming at a residence on St Laurent Drive.


Thursday


1:01 a.m. - 30-year-old man arrested and charged with assault after a 911 call to a residence on Ross Crescent reporting a fight. Subject later released to appear in North Battleford court Jan. 16.


1:46 a.m. - 911 call of a disturbance at a residence on Ross Crescent. 22-year-old woman arrested for mischief.


2:05 a.m. - 56-year-old woman arrested for public intoxication, found by patrolling members staggering down 101st Street.


4:07 a.m. - Noise complaint on St Laurent Drive. Members attended and warning given.
