LLOYDMINSTER — The City of Lloydminster’s Municipal Enforcement Department is on the lookout and may be coming after you, but in a good way.
The department is partnering with the Lloydminster Fire Department and RCMP and launching the Positive Ticketing Program, recognizing residents who make safe, kind and community-minded choices.
The program is designed to build stronger relations between residents and enforcement or emergency services. By rewarding positive actions within the community, the program helps break down barriers and encourages everyone to take part in positive interactions throughout the community.
“Positive Ticketing is about shining a spotlight on the good happening every day in our community,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers in a press release. “By recognizing and celebrating positive choices, we’re not only encouraging safe and respectful behaviours, but also building stronger connections between residents and our enforcement and emergency services.”
Positive actions such as helping a neighbour, using crosswalks properly, wearing safety gear or showing acts of kindness qualify for a Positive Ticket. Residents who receive a Positive Ticket will also get a small reward to one of eight local Lloydminster businesses, to say thank-you for making the Border City a better place to live.
