Hundreds of speeding tickets did little to deter those who preferred to drive past Battleford at 80 km/h. The problem has now been solved, albeit temporarily, by the many enormous potholes that line stretch of highway.

Battleford town council addressed the growing issue at the March 19 council meeting. Deputy Mayor Derek Mahon that the twinning project was far from finished, and that some stretches on the southbound section would have to be "rejected and replaced."

But council remained optimistic. Mahon explained that "what's on there right now is just the first lift. I think we can rest assured that moving forward, we'll have a good product in the end."
