As if Saskatchewan needed any more nonsense in the year 2020, now the power’s gone out at the legislature.

A power outage in the Lakeview and South Lakeview areas of Regina has delayed the province’s much-anticipated announcement of COVID-19 vaccine delivery plans that was set for today.

The announcement from health minister Paul Merriman and chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab had been scheduled for 3 p.m. this afternoon. It is now rescheduled to 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The outage took down the power throughout the legislature Tuesday afternoon, including inside the legislature chamber itself where proceedings were also halted.

The latest update on the situation posted by SaskPower at 3:22 p.m. was as follows:

“3:22 PM: Outage Update: Crews are patrolling to determining the cause and repair time for the outage reported in Regina - Lakeview & South Lakeview area. No ETR #skoutage”.
