Ten prairie women will begin an 1,800 km snowmobile ride today for breast cancer research.

This year's journey will be the 13th for the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles-sponsored Ride for the Cure. This year will see ten snowmobile riders, three pit crew members and four executives participating. The ride will start in Big River, stop in North Battleford on the seventh day, and finish on the eighth day in Meadow Lake. In total, it will visit 40 communities.

"It's a lot of work to organize the annual trek, but it's tremendously rewarding to help fund a cure," Carol McKnight, president of Prairie Women on Snowmobiles explained. "We hope people will support our ride by making a donation and by joining our team for a leg of the journey."

In its 13-year history, the ride has raised a total of $1.2 million for breast cancer research. To make donations, visit www.prairiewomen.ca. For more information, contact carol McKnight at cmcknight@sasktel.net or at 306-961-1994.
