As of Jan. 10, the precautionary drinking water advisory for the village of Neilburg has been lifted.

It had been in effect since Dec. 3, but is now over as the drinking water has been proven to be safe to consume, from a bacteria perspective, once more.

Citizens have been advised that they may begin using their tap water as normal, after completing the following steps:

Run cold water faucets and drinking fountains for at least 1-minute before using the water;

Drain and flush the ice-making system in your refrigerator;

Backwash pool filters and change the water;

Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle; and

Drain and refill hot water heaters that are set below 45 C (normal setting is 60 C).
